Every now and then I drop a little snippet in my postings about travel security issues. With all the uneasiness in the world travel security is an area of growth, particularly concerning the corporate world. Take a look at Air Security International's website, touting itself as "a leading provider of intelligence and security services for organizations that operate internationally." Under a section called "HOT SPOTS" ASI brings us up to date on this situation:
Violent clashes were reported throughout the afternoon on 13 October 2005 in Lapa, located in the western part of Sao Paulo. Violence reportedly broke out after 160 police officers attempted to expel a group of approximately 500 peddlers from the area, who reacted by attacking the officers, nearby stores and the local police station. The clashes resulted in at least 11 arrests and several injuries. Further demonstrations could occur on 14 October, as the peddlers might attempt to return to the area.
Another company, E-Travel Advisories, provides international travel advisory services to corporate and leisure clients. E-Travel advisory subscriptions start at $49.95 per month. Kroll Risk Consulting Company "helps clients reduce their exposure to global threats, capitalize on business opportunities, and protect employees and assets." Kroll's client list include, "many of the world’s largest and most prestigious corporations, law firms, academic institutions, non-profit organizations, sovereign governments and high net-worth individuals, entertainers and celebrities."
